Thirty minutes. That is all they got to give in the new Resident Evil 2 Remake demo. Still, I decided to check out the demo and write about. So, let’s get into this mini blog.
Before I get into it, I need to say two things right off the bat. The first (and most obvious) is that this is a thirty minute long demo, which means that this blog will be very short. Second, I haven’t played the original game, so this won’t be a comparison. With that out of the way, let’s get into it.
With the very limited time I had with the game, I could tell you one thing straight off the bat: this is a Resident Evil game. The level design and inventory plays to the fiddle of classic RE games, while the gameplay and controls play like a modern take on RE4. If you have played a classic and/or a modern RE game, then expect this to be more of that. I don’t mean that in any bad way though. After playing this demo, I wanted to jump right back into the games I have played and try out the ones I haven’t. I think the gameplay overall is about what I expected.
Outside of that, I can say that this game looks incredible. Its visuals look great and they really set the atmosphere well. Knives can be used to get yourself out of a sticky situation, but in this game they can be picked up. I always wondered why they didn’t pick up the knife after stabbing a zombie, but now I wonder no longer. Unfortunately, the knife does have durability, which will always be annoying to me. And speaking of annoying, zombies constantly came back to life despite being downed. I know it was like that with the older games, but it happened all the time with my playthough, and that got to be really annoying.
I apologize for such a short and lame blog, but I really don’t have a lot to say about this game from this demo. It looks and plays incredibly well, but other than that I found that the experience overall plays like a Resident Evil game. I didn’t have enough time to really start solving the puzzles, but I could tell exactly what was going on. Still, I am excited about this game nonetheless, and I think it will be a solid release once the 25th hits.
